‘Newroz’ investigation against HDP Co-Chair Sancar

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Mithat Sancar faces an investigation due to his speech during the Newroz celebrations in Turkey’s southeastern province of Diyarbakır on Sunday (March 21).

As reported by Mezopotamya Agency (MA), the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation against the politician on charge of “propagandizing for a terrorist organization.”

13 people detained

As part of an investigation launched by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office into the Newroz celebrations in the Kurdish-majority province, 13 people were taken into custody on charge of “propagandizing for a terrorist organization” yesterday (March 22).

As reported by the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA), a legal action has been taken against 81 people who joined the celebrations. The related procedures of 13 detained people were still ongoing at the security directorate as of 6.30 p.m. yesterday.
