Italian democratic socialist political party Left Ecology and Freedom (Italian: Sinistra Ecologia Libertà, SEL) has voiced support with the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) for the general elections to take place in Turkey and North Kurdistan on 7 June.
Nicola Fratoianni, National coordinator of SEL, expressed in a statement his solidarity and that of the entire Left Ecology and Freedom (SEL) to leaders and militants of the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) for the attacks suffered in these difficult days of the election campaign.
“We are close to HDP, party born from civil society organizations, leftist forces in Turkey, representatives of ethnic minorities, environmental movements and the LGBT community, which today represents a hope of redemption for the whole Turkish society”, the statement underlined.
Fratoianni remarked that HDP deserved their support, stressing that;
“We are sure they will overcome, in the elections of next June 7, the barrier of 10% anti-democratic and they will represent the democratic alternative in turkish Parliament.”
